Tonina was built in Santa Barbara, California at Lindwall Boatworks and designed by Arthur DeFever. 


Launched in 1963, she is entirely monel fastened.

Tonina was designed by Arthur DeFever and Built by Sugar Lindwall of Lindwall Boatworks in Santa Barbara, CA.


She was originally commissioned by Frank Collbohm founder and first president of the Rand Corporation.

Redundancy and Self Reliance

Designed as a world cruiser, Tonina's systems are designed with redundancy and simplicity in mind. Tonina is equipped with enough tools and spare parts to make repairs at sea if necessary; a bench grinder, drill press and metal lathe make up part of her workshop.
